Ryan’s all-glass: The Best Way to Clean Your Windows

Cleaning windows is a vital component of regular maintenance for both homes and workplaces. When you fail to clean windows regularly, they will get dirty, become streaky, and even develop hard-to-remove stains. However, cleaning your windows with the wrong glass cleaner or the wrong material can cause more problems than it fixes. In today’s blog post, Ryan’s all-glass talks about some easy tips for cleaning your windows.

Clean Your Windows at Least Once a Month

The first step towards clean and shiny windows is regular cleaning. Ryan’s all-glass recommends cleaning your windows at least once a month, if not more, even if your windows don’t appear dirty. Over time, your windows accumulate dust and other small particles. Those particles are much harder to remove if you don’t clean your windows regularly.

Clear All Debris

Remove all significant debris from the glass surface when cleaning your windows. Again, regular washing plays a pivotal role in this step. Clearing all debris from the surface helps to focus your cleaning on the glass itself. When you attempt to wash glass with debris on it, you merely rearrange the dirt or dust that made the glass dirty rather than cleaning the window. Dust and particles are much easier to dust off and remove after you clear away debris.

Use the Right Glass Cleaner

Arguably the most crucial step when cleaning windows is finding the right glass cleaner. At Ryan’s all-glass, we highly recommend the glass cleaner we provide. That way, your windows get the best possible clean. The right glass cleaner cuts through stains, removes grease and grime, and leaves windows with a brand new shine.

Use the Right Cloth or Rag

Creating streaks represents one of the most common problems people run into when cleaning windows. Using the wrong cloth or rag on a window is typically the source of these streaks. That’s why it’s important to find the right material to clean your glass. Ryan’s all-glass recommends a microfiber rag to avoid streaks. If you don’t have a microfiber rag, you will probably be better off using a simple paper towel compared to a dish rag or towel.

Glass Repair Service: How to Clean Up Broken Glass

Pieces of shattered glass

When there is broken glass in the home, it is vital that you clean it up quickly and efficiently. If pieces of glass are left behind and forgotten about, it can lead to injuries in the future. This is particularly concerning if you have children or pets in the home. Cleaning up broken glass is even more important for businesses, to protect the safety of your customers and the reputation of your establishment. In today’s blog posts, the glass repair service experts at Ryan’s all-glass take a look at the best ways to clean up broken glass.

Clear the Area and Remove the Big Pieces

Once you see that there is broken glass, the first step is to completely clear the area. This will keep everyone safe, and it will also make it easier to clean up the area without glass pieces spread around and broken further. Once you clear the area, you will need to focus on the bigger pieces.

If the break is on a hard surface, this process will be much easier and will require a quick sweeping. However, if the break is on carpet, the process is a little bit more difficult. You will want to put on gloves and carefully remove the biggest pieces.

Find a Way to Get the Small Pieces

Getting the smaller pieces is much more difficult than the bigger pieces. Again, if your break is on a hard floor, sweeping will do most of the job. A good trick to check for the presence of small pieces is to press a small piece of bread against the floor and see if any stray pieces were picked up. Getting rid of small pieces might actually be easier on carpet, as a thorough vacuuming of the affected area can get rid of those stray shards.

Call a Glass Repair Service for Major Breaks

If you have experienced a major glass break at your business or home, calling a glass repair service is always a good option. Not only will a glass repair service give you a thorough clean-up, but they can also help you get a glass replacement quickly and easily.

Replacing sections in a custom glass design can be difficult, but the right maintenance steps can help you avoid this problem entirely. At Ryan’s All-Glass, we are dedicated to providing the best service and the best advice for our customers. In today’s blog from Ryan’s All-Glass, we discuss a few glass maintenance tips that can help avoid glass replacements and keep your custom glass features looking great.

1. Ryan’s all-glass Shower Guard

Ryan’s offers a special protective coating that seals the pores in the glass to prevent water staining and calcium build up. This coating has to be applied at the time of purchase to offer the best results.

2. Proper Cleaning

The most common reason why mirrors or glass features don’t last as long as they should is because they aren’t cleaned properly. Using a squeegee after every shower as well as regular cleaning any other glass features can cause them to deteriorate and look old and cloudy. However, this is a completely avoidable problem!

Use a clean microfiber cloth and gentle cleansing solution to remove dirt, dust and oils from your glass. Ryan’s all-glass sells a great glass cleaner, if you are on the hunt for the right product. This will keep your glass in the best shape possible and help you avoid glass replacement down the road.

3. Seek Advice From The Professionals

If you have damaged glass, you might not know whether or not you can repair it yourself or whether you need professional help. It can also be difficult to tell if you need a total glass replacement without the help of professionals like the Ryan’s all-glass team. Clean up Broken Glass with These 5 Household Items

5 Household Items that Will Help Clean Up Broken Glass

Broken wine glass with red wine spilled

Sometimes glass breaks. When this happens and you need to act fast, there are some household items you can grab on the fly to clean up the mess. These easy methods work for both hardwood floors and carpet.

Before you begin cleanup, however, you should remove any pets and children from the area, and make sure to put on shoes and gloves. Start by carefully removing the larger, easy to grab pieces and dispose of them safely. Then, grab any one of these common household materials to ensure those pesky small shards are dealt with.

1.   Bread

Bread is a staple food that’s stocked in almost every pantry in America. It’s spongy and soft, which is perfect for picking up broken glass pieces. Simply pull out a slice of soft bread, press it flat against the small pieces until they stick, and dispose of the bread. Repeat until all pieces have been removed.

2.   Potatoes

A potato may sound useless in this case, but small glass pieces will actually stick to the moisture of a sliced potato. Simply cut up a few thick slices and press them flat down against the broken glass. Discard the potato and wipe down the area of excess moisture when you are finished.

3.   Tape

From duct to Scotch, adhesive tape is great for picking up many small, pesky items at once. Glass is no exception! Wrap the tape around a gloved hand with the adhesive side out. Then press the tape flat against the glass, discard the tape, and begin again. Or, you can pull out a long stretch of tape, hold both ends, press it against the ground, and pull up slowly. The glass will stick to the adhesive, and you can throw it away safely.

4.   Damp Paper Towels

The moisture from a damp paper towel will allow small pieces of glass to stick to the paper. This method is probably the easiest and most functional way to clean up broken glass pieces because it helps clean up any food or drink spills at the same time. Grab a roll of paper towels and layer them for added thickness and protection for your hands. Dampen the paper with water, and press into the small glass shards. Paper towels are a cheap and convenient option for easy glass cleanup.

5.   Flashlight

While a flashlight won’t help you pick up glass pieces, it can certainly help you see all of them. Dim the lights of the room where your glass broke, place your flashlight on the ground and shine its light on the glass. The glass with catch the light and reflect out, allowing you to easily see all the broken pieces everywhere. This helps ensure you’ve grabbed all the pieces. Then for an extra precaution, run a vacuum over the area to ensure it’s safe!

These common household items are an effective way of cleaning any remaining glass from your hardwood floor or carpet.
